Drives finish off the Rocks, prepare for the Royals!
Saturday night at the PERC the Drives ended the Elora Rocks season
Saturday night around 9pm Mitch "Booker" Boertien sealed the series for the Drives in OT as they put the final nail in the coffin of the Elora Rocks season.
The series had been a great back and forth effort by both teams with the Drives winning game 1 in Elora but losing game 2 at home, last weekend the Drives were able to take both games to go up 3-1 in the series but failed to seal the deal in Elora Friday night. Game 6 went in Milverton on Saturday night and with both goalies standing on their heads the game was pushed to OT where Elora took a costly penalty, Chris Corbett took the point shot that was redirected by Boertien straight up in the air, over the goaltenders head, eventually falling in behind the goalie on a play that seemed like it took forever to finish.
The Drives will now prepare for the Tavistock Royals in the A final which will start on Saturday night at 7:30 in Tavistock, followed by Sunday afternoon at 2 pm back in Milverton.
The Drives took the regular season series with the Royals 2 games to 1, head coach Mike Chapman was quoted as saying "This Royals team are in the finals for good reason, right from the start we knew they should end up there, we just hoped we could be the ones to face them, we know we match up well with them but we will need to be running on all cylinders to take them down"
Be sure to get to both arenas and watch this great series!
