WOAA makes major change
Submitted By Tim McNaughton on Tuesday, August 27, 2019
The WOAA has voted to make a major change for the upcoming season with regards to how teams recruit players

After some major issues at the end of last season that actually led to playoffs being postponed a week the WOAA has said enough is enough. For as long as anyone could remember the WOAA Sr hockey league was considered a local hockey league, players consisted of residents and imports, for 2019/20 players will now be registered by what level of hockey they played, not by where they live. General manager Trevor Jutzi said "it seems like every season for as long as I can remember there has been at least one team questioned about the residency of one of their players, last season was the worst example of it yet and it put a real black eye on the league." Trevor also went on to say he's excited about how the new rules break down and thinks it can be a real benefit to the team, as well as not having to deal with the issues of residency.
